Chapter 1357: Chapter 1357: Human or Ghost (1)

That night, Little Pudding clung to Su Hongxing the entire time. Wherever Su Hongxing went, Little Pudding followed.

Su Hongxing realized that it was because Little Pudding had overheard the harsh words she said when she was upset, which made the child so anxious.

When it was bedtime, Su Hongxing noticed Little Pudding was reluctant to fall asleep. She pulled the child into her arms and showered her with kisses. “Mommy said the wrong thing today, sweetheart. I’m sorry. I promise I’ll never speak out of anger again. You are Mommy’s little heart and soul. How could I ever not want you?”

This child had always been obedient and never gave her any trouble. The reason Little Pudding wanted to cling to her was simply because she loved her so much.

She had been blinded by anger today and said words that hurt her child’s feelings. She regretted them the moment they slipped out.

“I love Mommy so, so much too.” Little Pudding looked at Su Hongxing with wide, hopeful eyes. “Then can I go to work with Mommy tomorrow?”

“You, everything about you is wonderful except for how sticky you are with Mommy.” Su Hongxing sighed, feeling helpless as she looked at her daughter.

“But I love Mommy. If I don’t see Mommy for even a little while, I’ll miss her so much.” Little Pudding pouted, looking aggrieved.

Su Hongxing didn’t know what to do. If she refused, Little Pudding might refuse to go to sleep all night. But if she agreed, spoiling her again and again, how would she ever want to go to school in the future?

Just as she was feeling troubled, Ye Qilan knocked and came into the room.

“Little Pudding isn’t asleep yet?” Ye Qilan walked over and picked Little Pudding up from Su Hongxing’s arms.

The chubby little one, fair and soft, looked like a beautiful porcelain doll. She was the spitting image of Su Hongxing as a child, adorable and lovely.

His expression softened as he spoke, “Mommy works so hard during the day and still has to comfort you at night. You need to make sure Mommy doesn’t get too tired, okay?”

Hearing his words, Little Pudding turned to look at Su Hongxing, her eyes turning red. “Mommy, I’m sorry…”

Su Hongxing’s biggest weakness was seeing Little Pudding cry. She immediately hugged her, saying, “Don’t listen to your daddy’s nonsense. Mommy’s not tired. As long as I see you, Mommy feels so happy.”

Little Pudding clutched Su Hongxing’s collar tightly. “Mommy, I-I don’t want to make Mommy tired…”

Ye Qilan, watching the mother and daughter duo, couldn’t help but laugh. “How about this? Tomorrow, Little Pudding will go to work with me, and I’ll teach her myself. When Little Pudding’s a bit older, we’ll just have her skip a grade. Our daughter is so brilliant; even if she doesn’t go to school, she’ll still be ahead of the other kids.”

Their daughter, no doubt, was the smartest of all.

Little Pudding’s eyes lit up for a moment, but she quickly looked down, her expression dimming. “But I’d still rather go to work with Mommy.”

Ye Qilan glanced at Su Hongxing. “What do you think?”

He also hoped Su Hongxing could work with him, so their family of four could stick together, without anyone taking advantage of a distance between them.

Su Hongxing pretended not to understand Ye Qilan’s deeper implication and lightly cleared her throat. “Alright then, tomorrow you’ll take Little Pudding to work!”

She figured it was time for Little Pudding to start adapting to life without her. Once Little Pudding had gotten used to it, they could send her to school.

Ye Qilan and Little Pudding exchanged a glance, knowing their plan had failed.

Next came Ye Qilan’s turn to tell Little Pudding her bedtime fairy tale.

Ye Qilan read straight from the book. Since Little Pudding had memorized the story, she would immediately correct him every time he messed up.

“Little Pudding, if you already know the story by heart, why do you still want to hear it at bedtime?” Ye Qilan was genuinely baffled by the child’s odd logic.

“Obviously, it’s to help me fall asleep. Daddy, you’re so silly!”
