My brother is an Idol - Chapter 118
Chapter 118
When Hyoyoung returned from school and saw her mother looking concerned, she knew immediately that it was time for her to explain her decision. Hyojun looked a bit uncomfortable, but he gave her a reassuring nod and Hyoyoung knew her guess was correct.
Hyoyoung’s mom had a curious look on her face. Hyoyoung walked towards her and hugged her tightly with a pretty smile.
“Mom! You wanna go on a date with me?”
“Really? My baby! Where should we go?”
“Hmm… Let’s spend all our time together till the end of this weekend!”
“Oh! Mother-daughter trip?!”

“YUP! Let’s leave the boys behind and go on a trip with just you and me!”
“That is the best news I have heard in a very long time! Do you have somewhere you want to go, Hyoyoung?”
“I want to go to Tokyo with you, Mom.”
“Where? Japan?”
“It’s really close, right? We can walk on the streets of Shibuya together! It will be a perfect date, Mom!”
“Wow, look at my girl! She thinks so big! Totally my style! Next time you want to eat Chinese food, I feel like you are going to ask to go to China! And next time you want to eat pizza, you are going to insist on going to Italy!”
“Haha, maybe.”
“Alright! This is the very first time my daughter has asked me out on a date, so I have no choice but to oblige. Wait just a minute here. I’m going to text your dad right now and get him to book us a trip.”
“You are so amazing, Mom!”
“Haha, you have no idea!”
Hyoyoung’s mom immediately messaged her husband, who replied that it was a perfect idea. The only one who seemed surprised and confused was Hyojun.
“What the! You are going to JAPAN? And you just decided it JUST LIKE THAT?”
“Oppa, I have been thinking about this for a while now, actually.”
“With mom?”
“Yeah. I originally was planning for Dad to go too, but for now, I think it’s best it’s just me and Mom.”
“You… you really have something planned, don’t you?”
“I always do. Anyway, if we leave tonight, then please let everyone know. I will tell Mikyung and Kiwook Oppa myself of course.”
“If you tell those two, Jiwoo will find out immediately, and that’s all of us, I think. I won’t have to tell anyone. Well, I’m off now then. I have a few things I have to take care of.”
“Alright. See you later.”
Hyoyoung went into her room, and watching her, Hyojun shook his head.
“Wow, she is my sister, but I still can’t believe how decisive she can be… With such big plans… Poor Kiwook Noh…”
Hyojun took out Hyunsuk’s list again and began to examine it again.
“Hmm… The first thing is to take care of the details of the business corporation… so I need get the documents sealed… And… Go to the accountant… and then… report the recent changes? Gosh, this is so confusing…”
Hyojun finally left, still looking puzzled. Hyoyoung, in her room, was busy packing her luggage. She suddenly wondered where Kiwook was.
She stopped and sent a text to him. When he didn’t reply back immediately, which he usually did, Hyoyoung began to feel anxious.
‘Why isn’t he texting me back?’
Kiwook was sitting beside Hyojun’s father while reporter Byungjun Lee sat across them looking awkward and embarrassed.
Byungjun Lee tried to explain, “I’m sorry. I should have checked with the family before…”
“Listen here.”
Hyojun’s father interrupted the reporter and continued, “I know very well that the public has the right to know. But that doesn’t mean it gives anyone the right to destroy someone’s life. Or someone’s whole family. Don’t you agree?”
“Yes…”
“Let me ask you something. Just who requested to know these things? Who claimed the right to know about my boys? Did the public beg you to release the information about The M members’ personal history? I don’t think so, right? Did any of my boys commit a crime? Nope, not that either. Look at this young man right here. Do you really think this boy wanted the public to know about his family history and who he loves? I DON’T THINK SO! The only responsibility for these boys, to repay for the public’s love, is to provide the best music they can produce. They are NOT obligated to reveal their personal lives. What you did, sir… is why the reporters get such bad reputation. Do you understand me?”
“Yes… Again… I’m really sorry…”
“You should be apologizing to the boys, not me. AND! Whatever happens, we will be taking legal action against you, so be ready. Kiwook, let’s go. Why did you come here anyway? He is not worth your time. Let’s get out of here.”
Hyoyoung’s father stood up and placed his hand on Kiwook’s shoulder. Kiwook had been silent during this entire encounter; he finally stood up and said to the reporter quietly, “Thanks to you, I got to think about a lot of things. But I don’t feel like I want to say thank you to you.”
And with that, Kiwook followed Hyojun’s father out.
Hyojun’s father stated in annoyance, “That jerk!”
Kiwook replied, “I’m really sorry, sir.”
“Why should you be sorry? There is no need to apologize to me. You didn’t do anything wrong.”
“But… I think things have gotten worse because of me.”
“It’s all fine. It’s all good. Life is like that. Things happen and there is nothing you can do about it. By the way, Hyoyoung is travelling to Japan with her mom. Did you hear about that?”
“Japan? No, I didn’t know… Did something happen?”
“Hyoyoung apparently wanted to spend some alone-time with her mom. She went through so much recently, so I said it was a great idea.”
“Oh, I see. Yes, it sounds like a good idea. I will talk to Hyoyoung later. Thank you for letting me know.”
“Alright. Are you going home now?”
“Me? Oh, no… I have some errands to run.”
“Alright. Take care, then.”
Hyojun’s father tapped Kiwook’s shoulders encouragingly a few times and left with his lawyer. When they were finally gone, Kiwook took out his phone. He noted that there were a few text messages and missed calls from Hyoyoung. He called her quickly.
“Darling.”
“Kiwook Oppa? Did you just call me ‘darling?’ Gosh, I told you to stop being so corny! Were you really busy? I called you but there was no answer.”
“Yeah, I met Reporter Byungjun Lee.”
“OMG… Are you ok?”
“Yeah, when I got to the office, your father was already there.”
“What? My dad?”
“Yeah.”
“My dad was there?”
“Yup. I didn’t have to say a thing. Your dad was so cool! He really handed it to that reporter. I wondered where you got your quick sharp tongue, and apparently, it was from your father.”
“So are you with my dad right now?”
“No, he left with his lawyer, and I am on a phone date with you right now.”
“I see.”
“So when is the flight to Japan?”
“OMG!”
“Why are you surprised?”
“How is it that everyone knows everything about me before I even tell them?”
“Well, I am your man, so obviously I know everything… Haha, your dad told me. Are you thinking to tell your mom about your decision during this trip?”
“Yeah. I want to talk to her when it’s just the two of us.”
“I see. So when are you leaving and when will you be back?”
“We are leaving to the airport in a minute. We are taking the night flight and we will be back by tomorrow night.”
“Wow, you already sound like a CEO.”
“Don’t make fun of me. If you keep that up, you might end up being the last to make your solo debut.”
“Wow… I’m so scared now.”
“I guess we won’t get to see each other before I leave.”
“Should I head towards the airport right now so we can see each other for a few minutes?”
“No, I want to spend as much time with my mom for the two days. I will see you tomorrow.”
“Alright. I will miss you, but I guess it can’t be helped.”
“Oppa…”
“Yeah?”
“You can also go see your mom, right?”
“Oh…”
“I heard from Hyojun Oppa that she is alone right now…”
“Yeah…”
“So go and visit her. I think it’s a good idea.”
“Wow, you are so grown up, Hyoyoung. Much more than me.”
“Exactly, so just do as I ask.”
“Alright. I will go see… my mom.”
“Great! Good boy! When I arrive in Japan, I will contact you.”
“I love you.”
“Love you too!”
After a brief hesitation, Kiwook called his mom and told her he will visit her tonight. His mom sounded both happy and apologetic at the same time. After the call, Kiwook decided that it was indeed a good idea to see his mom. Kiwook quickly sent texts to Jiwoo and Hyojun to inform them of where he was going.
