Chapter 1190: Chapter 1190: Extra Story of the Eel 27
The couple suddenly understood: “Oh! Exploring restaurant options!”
Lu Yuwen finally spoke unhurriedly, his smile carrying just the right hint of bashfulness:
“It’s like this, before opening a new branch, I want to get a better understanding of popular local restaurants. Going alone might attract suspicion, and since I don’t have other friends here, I was hoping Su Man could accompany me.”
His gaze was gentle as he looked at Su Man and said slowly, “I just don’t know if Su Man is usually very busy and whether it might interfere with her work…”
“No matter how busy she is, she still has to eat!” Su’s mom responded with a big smile, agreeing on her daughter’s behalf, “As long as she’s not on night duty, after work you two can go for dinner together.”
Lu Yuwen nodded slightly and asked Su Man, “When do you get off work tomorrow?”
Su Man replied, “Seven o’clock.”
Lu Yuwen smiled: “Alright, let’s contact by phone at seven tomorrow, okay?”
Su Man absentmindedly nodded her head.
Whether it was to help out or to test Li Li, in any case, the matter was inexplicably settled…
…
The next day, Su Man was busy all the way until the end of her shift.
As she prepared to drive home, she remembered her meeting with Lu Yuwen, and her mood grew complicated.
This was her first time…having dinner outside alone with a male friend, and the person had only known her for less than a week.
If this had been before, she wouldn’t have believed it even if beaten to death. But now, it was truly happening.
She took out her phone, looked at it for a while, hesitated, and finally dialed Lu Yuwen’s number–
The call was answered quickly.
From his end came a slightly noisy background, mixed with music, as if he was in a mall.
“Where are you?” Su Man asked, “I’m driving over to find you now.”
“I’m on Hont Road,” Lu Yuwen replied. “It’s hard to find here. Let me add you on WeChat, then I’ll send you the location directly. Is that okay?”
Every time he said “okay?” or “is that good?” his tone was so soft, as if he was politely negotiating with her, or gently coaxing her.
Su Man worked hard to suppress the strange feeling in her heart and calmly responded, “My WeChat is linked to my phone number, you can add me directly.”
“Alright, then I’ll hang up for now,” Lu Yuwen said. “Drive safely on your way.”
Su Man murmured an “Mhm” and ended the call.
She then let out a long exhale while sitting in the driver’s seat…
She had no idea why she was feeling so nervous.
It was just so conflicting.
Clearly, being with Lu Yuwen was both relaxing and comfortable, yet she couldn’t help but have some strange reactions, ones she couldn’t figure out…
She glanced down at her uniform and, thinking of dinner, started the car and decided to head home first.
Not to mention makeup or dressing up, at least she needed to change into something decent, right?
…
Hont Road was bustling with activity, lined with several large malls. Su Man spent some time parking, then followed the location sent on WeChat to find Lu Yuwen.
She thought he would be in a restaurant inside the mall, but instead, he was in an upscale clothing store.
He was holding two dresses in his hands, the left hand holding a black off-the-shoulder evening gown, while the right hand held a royal blue backless mermaid dress.
“Which one looks better?” Lu Yuwen asked.
Su Man was a bit befuddled. “Who’s it for?”
After pausing, she asked in puzzlement, “Weren’t we going for dinner?”

“The best restaurants are either reservation-only or membership-based. I’ve reserved a spot at a French restaurant for 8 p.m. tomorrow night. They have rather strict rules and require formal attire, so tonight we’re buying clothes first.” He held the dresses up against Su Man, then handed the black one to the store clerk. “This one, get a smaller size.”
Su Man: “…”
She wanted to say that she already had a few formal dresses, and there was no need to buy a new one. But she wasn’t sure if those dresses were suitable for such upscale restaurant rules, so she found herself inexplicably remaining silent.
The store clerk smiled at her and said, “Miss, please come this way. I’ll take you to the fitting room.”
Su Man pursed her lips, glanced at Lu Yuwen, and finally, with some reluctance, followed the clerk to try on the dress.
