Chapter 1186: Chapter 1186: Extra Story of the Eel 23

“…Huh?” Su Man looked down and saw that her finger was indeed bleeding. Near the nail of her index finger, bright red droplets had appeared–startlingly vivid.

“You careless child!” Su Mom quickly pulled out a few tissues for her. “You’re so grown up, and yet you still manage to cut yourself while peeling an apple.”

Su Man laughed awkwardly and used the tissue to cover her wound. “It’s just a little nick…”

The main reason was she had been too engrossed in their conversation earlier.

“Even small cuts should be handled carefully. After all, this is a hospital, and there might be bacteria everywhere,” Lu Yuwen said seriously as he stood up. “I’ll go find a nurse for some alcohol. Wait here a moment.”

Su Man froze. “Uh… no, no need for that.”

But Lu Yuwen had already walked out.

Su Man: “…”

For such a tiny wound, by the time he came back it might already have healed… Wasn’t it a bit of an overreaction to bother a nurse for alcohol?

Then again, who doesn’t like the feeling of being cared for?

As she sat there in a daze, Su Mom and Su Dad were casually chatting:

“Lu Yuwen is quite attentive. I didn’t even notice Manman’s finger was hurt.”

“Neither did I when I gave her the apple.”

“Tsk, even if you’d noticed, you wouldn’t have said anything. The Su Family raises kids as if they don’t care about their lives. Back when Manman stayed at your parents’ house, she bumped her head and got a huge lump. You just rubbed some lard on it and didn’t even bother taking her to the infirmary.”

“It’s not ‘don’t care about their lives’; we just raised her like a boy, rougher than usual. Besides, you were busy with work back then and weren’t around to take care of her…”

“So you’re blaming me for not taking care of her at that time?”

“Sigh, of course I don’t mean that…”

Su Man didn’t want to listen to their bickering and silently stood up to leave.

Su Mom asked, “Where are you going?”

Su Man lifted her injured finger and said, “I’m going out for a bit. No need to trouble anyone over this small wound.”

Su Mom didn’t stop her and continued debating old grudges with Su Dad.

…

Su Man walked out of the hospital room and saw Lu Yuwen standing straight ahead in the corridor. Several nurses surrounded him, chattering away–one teaching him how to use alcohol, another instructing him on cotton swabs. Their voices overlapped.

When Lu Yuwen saw her approaching, a smile appeared on his face. He turned to the nurses and said, “Thanks, I’ll be using it for my girlfriend.”

The nurses giggled and scattered.

Su Man: “…”

Lu Yuwen walked up to her, leaned close to her ear, and said in a low voice, “Sorry for borrowing you for a second. Otherwise, they would’ve asked for my phone number.”

Su Man’s face turned red, and she didn’t know how to respond. After a few moments of internal struggle, she forced herself to sound calm with a nonchalant “Oh.”

Lu Yuwen watched her expression attentively. Seeing that she didn’t show much resistance, his lips curved slightly upwards as he gently took her hand–

Su Man’s face was now completely flushed. She quickly pulled her hand back. “I-I can do it myself!”

Lu Yuwen paused for a moment but maintained his warm smile. “You can apply the alcohol yourself, but let me help you with the band-aid.”

This time, Su Man didn’t refuse. Somewhat stiffly, she stretched out her finger and let Lu Yuwen carefully wrap the band-aid around it.

His movements were exceptionally gentle. After finishing, he inspected the wound thoroughly before letting go of her hand.

Su Man exhaled deeply, realizing only then that she had been holding her breath the entire time…

Goodness! Was she really that nervous?!

She once again berated herself inwardly!

A low laugh from the man reached her ears, and she looked up at him in confusion.

Lu Yuwen’s slightly curved eyes sparkled as he chuckled and asked, “You seem a little uneasy. Let me guess… Have you not had much interaction with male friends growing up?”

Su Man’s lips curved upward slightly, feeling oddly amused. She replied, “You’re wrong this time. Almost all my childhood friends were male!”

As a child, she roughhoused with rowdy kids in the neighborhood. Later, she joined a summer camp for junior scouts. As she grew older, she trained in combat and extreme sports, always surrounded by men.

“It’s just…”

“Hmm?” Lu Yuwen inquired, “Just what?”

Su Man hesitated momentarily and then shook her head. “It’s nothing…”

It’s just that, in a group full of boys, she inevitably became a tomboy herself, and few ever treated her like a girl…
