Badge in Azure - Chapter 1537 - Last Angel (Part 2)
Abyrus’ Sword of Glory had taken a weird blue color. It was filled with holy prose, but they were scripts created by Dante.
Every god crafted their own holy prose according to their own power of rules, giving birth to unique scripts. The words were capable of being understood among the gods, but none would have been able to use them.
Thousands of angels gathered in the huge city of angels and conjured a huge divine rune charm array.
Abyrus looked below it coldly and shouted, “Submit or die. You have three minutes.”
The angels knew of Abyrus’ notoriety. The seraph who had betrayed their god was the most cruel, and also the most hardworking, in the wars fought in the divine kingdom.
They thought that it was probably how traitors concealed the fear in their hearts.
“You traitor!” The angels below yelled angrily from below, and Abyrus laughed.

“So this is your choice, weaklings.” Abyrus held the Sword of Glory high in its hand and brought it down hard on them.
Saleen was in no mood to watch any longer. The angels would definitely end up dead. While there were still tens of millions of them, they were the last resistance force standing in that divine kingdom.
“Dante, you stay behind. Nailisi, Bing, head back with me,” Saleen said and left the Floating City behind, flying towards the gates of the divine kingdom with his two bonded creatures, using Comet Flash.
There were no more god creatures to be found near the gates of the divine kingdom. Many demons and humans migrated there. The lands of the former divine kingdom of the Lord of Glory were fertile and the place was devoid of any natural disasters. It had nice weather and was suitable for sustaining most creatures.
There was hardly anyone left in Baldur’s Gate. The ones who remained behind were all enchanters. Saleen had an ample number of enchanters, who, under Dante’s control, allowed their powers to be amplified to varying degrees, making them more than capable of protecting Baldur’s Gate.
The demons gave birth to many descendants throughout the hundred years of war. The demons’ reproduction rates were such that even Saleen found it to be exasperating. If it had not been for all that slaughter carried out in the demon plane, the demons would have probably collapsed their own plane with overpopulation.
It was fortunate that the divine kingdom was huge enough, with the total land mass eclipsing the demon plane. Saleen had also killed astonishing amounts of angels, god creatures and magic beasts. There were simply too many lands left unattended in the divine kingdom.
The demons built their own nations as they entered, with which they warred against each other. However, the demons were of only one faith, and that was Dante. That weapon spirit god had earned itself a title—God of Demons.
The only way the demons could keep their numbers in check was through warring against each other. There was no other way.
As Dante’s master, Saleen had unparalleled authority over the demons. He already made preparations mentally. If he were to lose the fight with the Goddess of Myers, he would let Dante retreat to the demon plane.
If Dante were allowed to grow its forces in the demon plane, it would have only been a matter of time before he was able to take its revenge.
Demons, as a race, were utterly terrifying. They had a formidable combat capacity, and possessed ridiculous abilities at procreation. So long as a place was capable of sustaining life, demons would have been able to live there.
Saleen did not gather the enchanters, and went on to check the six godly items in silence instead.
All six godly items were able to be used to their fullest in Saleen’s hands. That was also the reason why the goddess did not come to look for trouble with Saleen immediately.
The Book of Gaia, the Well of Stars, the Dimensional Staff, the Scorching Candle, the Deathly Night, and the Tears of Light. Any of the six godly items would have been able to amplify the power of a mage by ten times over.
Saleen had always been reluctant to merge Baldur’s Gate with his magic amplifier, just so that the six godly items could keep the gates of the divine kingdom in check. With the fighting in the divine kingdom truly over, there was no longer need to keep the gates defended.
If the goddess was going to show, then he would just need to be ready for it.
Saleen began to work on Baldur’s Gate, which had a stack of space more formidable than that of his magic amplifier. However, it was inferior to the magic amplifier in terms of materials. Demon mages of the Second Dynasty possessed powerful magical abilities, but they did not necessarily possess formidable luck like Saleen, which prevented them from acquiring all kinds of mystical materials and eventually making equipment never seen before.
While Baldur’s Gate was a fantastical weapon, it lacked major luck to back it.
Baldur’s Gate had 36 stacked spaces, which, when merged into the magic amplifier, would allow him to bring countless warriors with him, even if he were to not become a god. That end result would make his magic amplifier similar to a divine kingdom.
The six godly items were shot out of the Baldur’s Gate’s spaces. Saleen took them in his hand one after another, infusing them with his own power of soul, wiping out their original control methods through the use of lightning rules.
Juno the weapon spirit was in tears, as it lost all the backing that it had been relying on for so long.
Saleen persuaded the weapon spirit, saying, “Juno, at least your home will be sturdier from here on out, and it will never be broken by anyone ever again.”
Juno nodded. Saleen’s magic amplifier was simply too brutal. The materials used were so good that even an ancient weapon spirit like it felt envious. Furthermore, the magic amplifier no longer had a weapon spirit. With Baldur’s Gate merged, Juno no longer had to worry about being bullied by anyone else.
However, it decided its master, Saleen, was just being too overbearing, as he just went on to merge Baldur’s Gate with something else right away.
That thing is mine, mine!
Juno yelled deep down, but it wore a smile nonetheless, looking incredibly happy.
“Alright, Juno, if you are still displeased…” Saleen knew what Juno was thinking. Once Baldur’s Gate was merged with his magic amplifier, Juno would be submitted to total control by Saleen, despite still being the weapon spirit. Unless Saleen ended up dead, there was no way it could become its own person ever again.
Such weapon spirits behaved like natural living beings after reaching a certain level, and they were unwilling to be bound.
“No way, master. I love it,” Juno replied, putting up an even happier face.
“Alright then, help me out,” Saleen said and put Baldur’s Gate away. The equipment looked about the size of the magic amplifier after it was thoroughly worked on. All 27 eyes on the magic amplifier opened at the same time, firing beams of lightning that shone all over Baldur’s Gate.
Juno acknowledged and went to suppress all resisting power from Baldur’s Gate.
The shrunken Baldur’s Gate gradually merged with the magic amplifier on the inside after it was tempered with lightning. Saleen knew that the goddess would definitely be on guard against him at the moment, but that was just being on guard against him and little else. He was still connected to the outside world throughout the century, and he learned that the goddess’ power had already reached the entire mainland.
Saleen knew about the schism within the Nature Faith, but he did not tell Baudelaire to do anything to control it. It would not have done him any good if the schism were to escalate to full scale infighting. He was fighting wars in the divine kingdom, which meant that he would not be able to spare any time and energy to take on the believers in the faith who sided with the goddess.
If the goddess feared his powers in the mundane world, she would definitely have cleaned up the faith first, and Baudelaire’s powers would not have been able to take on the goddess.
So Myers was probably only concerned about Baldur’s Gate then?
He recalled having gone further to master the Book of Lightning and smirked deep down. Even if he were still unable to fight the goddess, he would not end up having his skills reflected back like it had been in the past, which almost ended up killing him.
With all six godly items having lost their methods of control, Saleen was able to work on them without problems. The first that Saleen worked on was the Well of Stars, which was a water elemental godly item.
Countless stars spread out and shot to the skies. Boundless power of water element was being absorbed in the stars. It seemed as if a well was being opened in the stars. Countless water elemental magic patterns formed naturally on the wall of the well. Saleen would see negligible drain while casting water element in that area.
That was where the Well of Stars’ truly terrifying thing was. All the other godly items would have had to drain magic chords before they could have been used, while the Well of Stars negated such a rule, and created an environment similar to a magic net instead.
Saleen realized that ancient people had already gotten very proficient in crafting magic nets. However, while such means were very helpful in making combat easier, it would easily cause mages to be dependent on them, preventing them from making further progress.
Saleen took a deep breath and cast the only level 18 magic spell he knew—Torrent.
The Torrent spell had an ancient feel to it, as if it contained countless histories. Untold numbers of dynasties rose and fell within the torrent. High waves charged far away. The hill that had always been a backing to Baldur’s Gate was destroyed altogether. All the elements that formed the peak were washed away by the spell, and all of them were converted into water element. The spell was only half way done, when Saleen shouted, “Dispel!”
The spell, which was half a peak tall, disappeared in an instant. He forcefully cancelled the level 18 magic spell, which would have only been possible when he was doing so in the Well of Stars. Regardless of how powerful his power of the soul would have been, there was no doubt he could have paid the price of interrupting a spell like that.
A level 18 spell would have easily been able to destroy nations. He had destroyed a hill just so to take the power within the hill, converting all matter into a torrent of elements. The power of that spell was undeniable, but Saleen knew that it would have been utterly impossible to take on the goddess using Torrent.
The goddess was far better at manipulating the power of elements than he was. If he wanted to pose a threat to the goddess, he would need to use all six of the godly items and add lightning magic into the mix before he would stand a chance of defeating that level 18 being.
While it might not have been possible at the moment, he deemed that it was only a matter of time before he became able to do so.
Mages were not allowed to be afraid of adversities. That was what his teacher taught him. Saleen never backed down from difficulties ever since he came to understand that teaching.
The Well of Stars gradually spread out and then absorbed into Saleen’s body. That was Jason’s unique way of working on godly items and subjugating them, and it was something that Saleen had only managed to pick up after getting to level 17. That spoke volumes of Jason’s talents, which were far higher than that of Saleen.
He went on to work on the Book of Gaia next. That was the first godly item belonging to Baldur’s Gate that he came into contact with, and he had long mastered the secrets within. The Book of Gaia flew before Saleen and was turned into a thick yellow aura, before he swallowed it in one gulp. Absorbing the book had actually been easier than working on the Well of Stars, as he needed to first cast powerful magic with it, thus enabling him to negate the magical recoil of the Well of Stars, before giving him the window to fuse it with his body.
When the Book of Gaia entered Saleen’s body, countless magic patterns of earth element and runes filled the depths of Saleen’s soul and danced within. Saleen shocked them by using Thundering Sound to quiet down the runes and magic patterns, which then sank into his soul without making a sound, becoming as quiet as the earth itself.
