A Sorcerer’s Journey - Chapter 577 - The Sevenfold Rainbow V
“This ancient creature… this must be it!”
When Grimm, who was hiding behind the shadow of the giant’s feet, discovered the ancient beast that had flown out from the sea of coral bushes, a fit of unspeakable anger emerged in his heart. It almost exposed his Anatomy Refinery Sorcerer’s assassination techniques which he was still getting used to.
After losing his composure for a brief moment, Grimm managed to refocus and returned to his cold, machine-like expressions. He calmly gathered all the information from his senses and analyzed them in the coldest manner to figure out the best plan of attack.
Luckily, the Dark Devourer Infernal Spirit Giant was able to divert its attention. The light coming out from the giant had also been intentionally intensified by Grimm so that the whole cavern was brightly illuminated. With no other creatures around, the swamp beast eventually let down its guard.
“So, only an ancient creature has appeared? That’ll do!”
Facing the swamp beast that came to investigate, Grimm melded into the shadows and stayed put. He was patiently waiting for the best chance to strike.
Roar!
The Dark Devourer Infernal Spirit Giant had been disguised to appear as an elemental creature by Grimm. It was gulping down the flaming coral bugs’ carcasses, feeding on their tiny souls.
As its snail-like eyes detected the gradually approaching swamp beast, the Dark Devourer Infernal Spirit Giant raised its head and pulled out a seven-meter long giant infernal sword. The flaming golden hue of the huge blade was instantly covered in a layer of Darkness Pool, and became hidden.
The giant roared at the ancient swamp beast in protest as if it had detected a threat.
“A strange creature brought in from the Sorcerers World?”
After facing many battles against the Sorcerers, this ancient swamp beast had accumulated quite an experience.
The most basic ability among all of the evil Sorcerers that had descended from the Foreign World was to summon powerful elemental creatures to complement themselves. These elemental creatures were a force to be reckoned with, and were sometimes even more terrifying than the Sorcerers themselves.
Naturally, the elemental giant was only a Level-2 creature and did not pose too much of a threat to the ancient swamp beast. However…
Compared to three years ago, the swamp beast had grown much weaker!
In this world, the ancient creatures that had the Evil Blood flowing within them had begun to weaken in various degrees. Their flesh had already reached the limits of life. This was also why the Evil Blood Dreadlord had to launch an attack three years ago.
The Endless World consisted of different species, different methods of evolution, different characteristics of life, and different world laws. The differences extended into their lifespans as well.
Even with the Evil Blood flowing within them, for the flesh creatures that had generally exceeded twenty thousand years in age, they had reached the limit of their lifespan.
In the end, by not attaining the level of a World Lord, their lives remain short. They would not be able to oversee the passage of history.
Hidden among the shadows, Grimm was waiting patiently.
“Closer, closer, come closer. Come on, don’t hesitate, strike! Destroy this trespassing elemental creature!”
The ancient creature did not have too many long-range attacks due to the nature of its passive evolution of a flesh and blood creature. As soon as the swamp beast came nearer to attack the Dark Devourer Infernal Spirit Giant, Grimm would strike it down hard with his arc of destruction!
By now, Grimm’s destructive spell had exceeded a damage of 4,500 degrees. It would spell the end for the ancient beast even if it were merely a graze.
“What a bother!”
In the end, the ancient swamp beast attacked.
Its two agile tentacles, tens of meters in length, lashed out violently against the Infernal Spirit Giant. There was a patch of black slimy liquid that had evaporated into a dark-colored gas that appeared to be shielding the soft, flexible tentacles.
Roar!
The Dark Devourer Infernal Spirit Giant let out a roar. Unwilling to back down, it slashed away with the giant infernal spirit sword in its hand.
Clang!
The clash between the gigantic infernal sword and one of the soft, flexible tentacles surprisingly produced a metallic clang! In the brief encounter, the agile tentacle proceeded to wrap around the giant sword while another one was headed toward the giant’s head at lightning speed!
Crackle!
A pair of cold eyes, covered by the pale-white spirals of the Mask of Truth came out from underneath the giant’s leg. A black arc was launched. The swamp beast’s head that had a venomous horn sticking out of it turned pale in an instant just as it was about to deliver the final blow to the Dark Devourer Infernal Spirit Giant.
Bam…
The enormous body of the nearly twenty-meter long swamp beast collapsed. Its two tentacles were twitching and whipping around. Eventually, they became weaker.
“It’s you?”
Grimm stepped on the wound on the tentacle that had been torn apart by the destructive arc. He tore open a Dimensional Gap with one hand and proceeded to take out a new crystal glass vial.
He had fought the creature twice before. Naturally, Grimm knew the weak point of the ancient creature.
Its brain was hidden in the tentacles!
“How… how did you become so powerful in such a short amount of time… though I might be weakened, it could not have turned out like this!
The head on top of the severed tentacle struggled and asked Grimm while covered in a yellow slimy liquid that had a foul stench.
Grimm stepped on the tentacle’s wound and skilfully collected the Evil Blood in his crystal glass vial. He looked at the head of the swamp beast that was rapidly shrivelling up and replied in a deep voice, “This is what knowledge does to a Sorcerer, and I am a Sorcerer!”
After that, Grimm took out a scalpel and decapitated the creature. He had no regards whatsoever whether the creature was unconscious or not.
With no means to resist, the once powerful creature that made Grimm feel helpless before was now being cut up by Grimm’s scalpel.
Grimm had no interest in keeping war trophies. Instead, there was research value in the poisonous tip of the horn on its head.
After Grimm was done, he no longer concealed himself. Surrounded by the dark aura manifested by the Star Stone, he flew toward the unusual flaming coral bush with the Sabbatic Goat Staff in his hand.
At the same time, it was where another ancient creature resided.
“Sorcerer, did you kill the swamp beast!?”
The Bloodcoral creature stood in front of the flaming coral bush and asked in a stern manner. Gone was its lazy posture. Its red scales were lined up neatly on its muscular frame. The light from the unusual-looking flaming coral bush was reflecting off the golden horn on top of the creature’s head.
Not even the might of the Bloodcoral beast could cover up the luscious greed that emanated from Grimm’s eyes beneath the Mask of Truth.
The half-meter tall flaming coral bush was burning in a seven to eight meter tall bloodfire column. Each of its branches were like the most refined glass sculptures. The curves themselves were a thing of beauty that were shining brilliantly. It almost took up all of Grimm’s sight.
What made Grimm feel even more ingenious was the brilliant hue that reflected off the creature’s golden horn. There seemed to be some special link to all this. This thing must be filled with high research value!
“That’s right, I killed him.”
Grimm said calmly. He slowly raised the Sabbatic Goat Staff with his right hand. Grimm’s rising Destructive Force distorted the surrounding flaming coral bushes within a hundred meters of range. Their energy was being sucked away relentlessly.
At this moment, based on appearance alone, Grimm looked like a cold, ruthless dark dreadlord that had descended upon the world.
“The same fate awaits you!”
